Wayne Jones is the Associate Administrator for Information Management and Chief Information Officer within the Office of the Chief Information Officer (OCIO) at the National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA). In this role, he ensures the integration and coordination of cybersecurity support activities and functions throughout the NNSA National Security Enterprise. He directs, reviews, and assesses the development, implementation, and maintenance of critical cybersecurity assets to ensure they achieve NNSA OCIO goals. Mr. Jones oversees cybersecurity management, classified and unclassified Information Technology (IT) operations, and represents the NNSA in internal and external forums regarding cybersecurity management and IT operations.
Mr. Jones has served the United States of America continuously since 1981 when he joined the US Navy. Following his service in the Navy, he entered Federal Civil Service as a Department of Defense (DoD) Information Technology Manager in 2002 as the Chief of Information Technology for the Missile Defense Agency (MDA). As Chief of Information Technology for MDA, he was responsible for conceiving and launching a strategic plan and related management execution plan; revamping information system policies and network strategies; establishing technology risk assessment and information system threat methodologies; and advising the Chief Information Officer on national security issues and organizational strategies. In 2006, he transitioned to the Department of Energy and National Nuclear Security Administration where he has served as a Federal Manager for more than 7 years.
Mr. Jones earned Bachelor of Science Degrees at Lane College in Mathematics and Business Administration. He earned Masters Degrees at George Washington University in Information Technology/System Engineering and at University of La Verne in Business Administration. He is a graduate of the National Defense University/Information Resource Management College and the Defense Acquisition University. Mr. Jones is also a certified DoD Chief Information Officer and Acquisition Program Manager for Information Technology.
