More than $395 Million in Small Business Contract Obligations Distributed in FY2010

The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) distributed more than $395 million in small business obligations for federal prime contracts in fiscal year 2010, surpassing its departmental small business goal by 39 percent for the year. To highlight the success of its small business program, NNSA is featuring a different Small Business of the Day throughout the week.

NNSA Small Business Week Day 1: Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc.

Navarro Research and Engineering, Inc. located in Oak Ridge, Tenn. Navarro is a premier contractor for NNSA providing environmental, renewable energy and energy efficiency, nuclear, information technology, and quality and safety services. Navarro has more than 350 employees working in 14 offices and 23 project locations nationwide.

NNSA Small Business Week Day 2: United Drilling, Inc.

United Drilling, Inc., a small minority-owned business based in Roswell, N.M. United Drilling drills oil, gas, water, geothermal, and environmental wells throughout the southwestern U.S. The small business has been doing business with NNSA and the Department of Energy since 1998, when it was awarded its first subcontract for drilling services at the Nevada National Security Site.

NNSA Small Business Week Day 3: Tri-State General Contracting Group, Inc

Tri-State General Contracting Group, Inc., located in Amarillo, Texas, specializes in construction, design-build and building renovations. The small business started working on projects in 2004 as a subcontractor and then as a prime contractor. Currently, the company is working at NNSA’s Pantex Plant replacing a building’s HVAC system and roof.

NNSA Small Business Week Day 4: Government Scientific Source

Since 1991, GSS, a small business veteran owned supplier dedicated to research excellence, has provided laboratory goods in all disciplines to all tiers of the U.S. government, ensuring products are safely and easily sourced and procured through multiple government supply schedules and eCommerce systems.

NNSA Small Business Week Day 5: MIRATEK

MIRATEK, located in El Paso, Texas, is a rapidly growing small business that has been in business since 1994. The company provides programmatic and administrative support to DOE and the NNSA Second Line of Defense Program. MIRATEK has also supported the DOE/NNSA Critical Skills Initiative/Complex Transformation effort out of the DOE/NNSA Forrestal Headquarters office in Washington, D.C.
