David Haaland and David Myers
Researchers, Sandia National Laboratories

Sandia researchers David Haaland (top) and David Myers (bottom) have been elected Fellows of the American Association for the Advancement of Science. Election as a Fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers.

Haaland was cited for “distinguished contributions in the area of chemometrics and spectral imaging, especially in the application of multivariate spectral analysis techniques.”

Myers was cited for “contributions to the science, management, and early application of ion implantation, lattice-mismatched heteroepitaxy, and microelectromechanical systems for commercial and national security applications.” Learn more about this award.

Omar Hurricane
Physicist, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

Omar Hurricane has been named as a recipient of the Department of Energy’s prestigious Ernest Orlando Lawrence Award. He is honored for his scientific leadership to advance understanding in a long-standing nuclear weapons physics anomaly and his contribution to nuclear weapons stockpile stewardship. He will be honored at a ceremony in Washington, D.C. early next year. Learn more about this award.

William Goldstein
Associate director for Physical and Life Sciences, Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory

William Goldstein has been awarded the distinction of American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS) Fellow. Election as a fellow is an honor bestowed upon AAAS members by their peers. Goldstein was elected for distinguished contributions to plasma modeling and diagnostics and for leadership in support of the Department of Energy national security programs.
