Sandia Corporation, the management and operating contractor for the Sandia National Laboratories, earned a “Very Good” rating and 85.3 percent of the possible incentive fee from the National Nuclear Security Administration for its fiscal year 2011 performance.
Among Sandia Corporation’s successes:
- Completed 98.3% (116 of 118) of Level II Milestones.
- Completed three plutonium pulsed power shots, two uranium shots and one Material #4 shot at Z Machine.
- Significant increase in Weapons Evaluation Test Laboratory testing – Systems Stockpile Laboratory Tests (146%) and Component Tests (165%).
Among areas for improvement cited by NNSA:
- The B61 Life Extension Program funding shortfalls, and possible solutions, were not communicated to Headquarters in a timely manner.
