Randall Hendrickson serves as the Associate Administrator for Management and Budget in NNSA. He is a member of the Senior Executive Service and NNSA's senior career official leading and managing the budget and administrative staffs responsible for enterprise-wide systems and policies. His organization guides and assists the Administrator in all aspects of budget and financial management, business operations, human resources and leadership development, international operations, and quality management performance and analysis.
Associate Administrator Hendrickson is responsible for the development and administration of corporate planning, programming, budgeting, and evaluation processes. He leads the budget and finance staff in the establishment and conduct of the NNSA's annual programming, planning and budget policy and procedures including financial performance. He heads NNSA’s Human Resources, Career and Leadership Management, Business Operations (including policies and facilities), Internal Audits and Controls, Quality Management, and International Operations. Hendrickson also provides strategies and options to assist the Administrator in advising the Secretary of Energy on all NNSA budget, leadership and managerial strategies, and programs to meet NNSA's corporate future needs.
For International Operations, his team integrates the Department of Energy and NNSA resources into a cohesive corporate-focused team that represents both DOE and NNSA in countries around the world. His organization oversees and coordinates general administrative services and logistical support for NNSA headquarters, and advises NNSA leadership on policies and regulations. His team also represents NNSA on administrative matters with external entities, including the Office of Management and Budget, Government Accountability Office, General Services Administration, Office of Personnel Management, Congress, and others.
Prior to joining NNSA, Hendrickson served for 30 years in the U.S. Navy at sea and ashore, serving as a Surface Warfare Officer. He retired from the Navy in 2013 as a Rear Admiral. A graduate of Iowa State University with a double major in political science and naval science. He also has a master’s degree in national security affairs, with a focus on Far Eastern/Pacific studies and strategic planning, international organization and negotiations from the Naval Postgraduate School.
While in the Navy, Hendrickson’s sea tours included command of the USS LAKE ERIE (CG 70) and the USS RAMAGE (DDG 61). During his command tours, the crew earned consecutive battle effectiveness and Golden Anchor Retention awards. Ashore, Hendrickson served in executive positions as the Deputy Director of the Missile Defense Agency, the Program Executive for Aegis Ballistic Missile Defense, and as the Commander at the Navy Air and Missile Defense Command. He is a designated Joint Qualified Officer and a Certified Acquisition Professional.
Hendrickson's personal awards and decorations include the Navy Distinguished Service Medal, two Defense Superior Service Medals, two Legion of Merit awards, two State Department Awards, and various other personal and unit awards.
