Provides a corporate perspective for the management and operation of the foreign travel process critical to the implementation of the numerous Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation international programs.
The consolidation of activities into the Foreign Travel section provides consistency and a single point of contact within the Office of Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation (DNN) for all foreign travel policy, guidance and implementation. A key objective of the organization is to continue to pursue initiatives which streamline the foreign travel process, improve oversight, and realize organizational economies of scale.
International Operations has helped move the travel process into the "electronic age" with implementation complex-wide of the innovative Travel Information System (TIS), and management and tracking of passport and medical evacuation program.
Utilizing web technologies for cross platform compatibility and providing action tracking and data collection for DNN programs and supporting organizations for country clearance cables and requests for letters of invitation, International Operation's Travel Information System has become a significant management tool for the over 5,000 international trips a year complex-wide by DNN federal and contractor travelers. Access to the system is limited to travelers/users and includes a HomePage which relays the most up-to-date travel information and Department of State travel advisories. The system is managed by the Oak Ridge National Laboratory .
