Every Memorial Day, our Nation remembers the men and women of the U.S. military who died in service of our great country. Although the debt can never be repaid, we honor them and their families by commemorating the sacrifices they made on our behalf.
This Memorial Day, please join me and your fellow Americans across the county in observing the National Moment of Remembrance at 3 PM (local time). Use this moment of silence and unity to reflect on those who answered when our country called and who did not come home again.
Here at NNSA, we are privileged to work side by side with both active and former members of the U.S. military. To each and every one of you, we thank you for your commitment to serve our country and for your continuing dedication to our Nation’s security.
Memorial Day also represents the unofficial kickoff of the summer season. I hope you will take some well-deserved leave in the coming months to travel, relax, volunteer, or spend time at home with your family and friends.
As you do so, I urge you to be careful. Every year, many Americans suffer serious injuries during the summer months. Enjoy your time-off, but please also return safe and sound.
Have a fun, safe, and relaxing summer.
