In July, members of the 2016 Mid-Level Leadership Development Program (MLDP) completed the second portion of their core training at Nevada Field Office. It included a leadership assessment, a course in effective writing in the federal government, a tour of the Nevada National Security Site, and time to work on their capstone projects.
MLDP is part of NNSA’s One Leadership initiative. It is a yearlong training program designed to create a pool of diverse and qualified employees prepared to assume leadership roles within the department. MLDP components include job shadowing and mentorship, site tours, a 60-day rotational assignment and core training sessions, which include conflict resolution skills, team development, and others.
“I am very excited about the MLDP participants and the energy they are bringing to their yearlong training process,” said NNSA Deputy Associate Administrator for Management Frank Lowery. “Their exposure to new ideas from areas of NNSA’s mission space which they had not experienced before will position them well to assume leadership roles in NNSA.”
Although the current class began in February with their 360 leadership assessment, the program officially launched in April with an orientation in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where the first core certification training session was completed. The program will conclude with a capstone project presentation and a graduation ceremony.
