NNSA’s principal assistant deputy administrator for military application visited Minot Air Force Base, North Dakota, earlier this month to meet with a key partner in U.S. nuclear deterrence.
Air Force Brig. Gen. Michael Lutton toured 5th Bomb Wing and 91st Missile Wing facilities to learn about their mission and capabilities.
“NNSA partners with the Air Force and the Navy in providing America’s nuclear deterrent,” Lutton said. “It is always a pleasure to see and thank the dedicated women and men of Minot who are directly working in this vital national security mission.”
Lutton was formerly the 91st Missile Wing Commander, a position also previously held by NNSA Administrator Lt. Gen. Frank G. Klotz (Ret.).
At NNSA, Lutton assists NNSA’s Acting Deputy Administrator for Defense Programs Phil Calbos, in directing the Stockpile Stewardship Program, which maintains the safety, security, and effectiveness of the nation’s nuclear weapons stockpile without underground nuclear testing.
