Leaders from across the Department of Energy discussed how their military service has contributed to success in federal service during a panel this week at the 2017 Veterans Day Commemorative Program at the Forrestal Building.
“Given the nature of our missions, NNSA has quite a few active duty and retired military personnel -- both officers and enlisted -- serving among its ranks,” said James McConnell, NNSA’s associate administrator for Safety, Infrastructure and Operations. “Veterans add great value to our organizational culture, bringing their experience, talent, and dedication.”
McConnell is a former U.S. Navy submarine officer. He holds a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from the U.S. Naval Academy.
“I’m also the proud parent of a sailor and a Marine,” he added, with a smile.
