NNSA Employees Give Back This Holiday Season
WASHINGTON, D.C. – With the holiday season in full swing, National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) Administrator Thomas D'Agostino today highlighted the contributions of the men and women working across the nuclear security enterprise who have given back to their communities.
From donations to the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation to raising money to buy new coats, gifts or shoes for children, employees throughout the NNSA nuclear security enterprise have found countless ways to make this holiday season more cheerful by lending a helping hand to the less fortunate in their communities.
"The laboratories and production sites that make up the nuclear security enterprise make important contributions to the communities that host them throughout the year, but they really rise to the occasion each Holiday Season," said Administrator D'Agostino. "In addition to doing their part to keep the American people safe, I am proud that the men and women working throughout the nuclear security enterprise have made giving back to their communities a priority."
This year, employees at all of NNSA's sites participated in charitable campaigns that have helped countless families in their communities. The following is a short summary of some of those efforts:
Established by Congress in 2000, NNSA is a separately organized agency within the U.S. Department of Energy responsible for enhancing national security through the military application of nuclear science. NNSA maintains and enhances the safety, security, reliability and performance of the U.S. nuclear weapons stockpile without nuclear testing; works to reduce global danger from weapons of mass destruction; provides the U.S. Navy with safe and effective nuclear propulsion; and responds to nuclear and radiological emergencies in the United States and abroad.
