NNSA Names Robert Osborn as New Chief Information Officer

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) today welcomed Robert (Bob) Osborn, NNSA's new Chief Information Officer (CIO).  

In this position, Osborn will serve as the principal executive for information management and information technology. He will provide advice and assistance to NNSA leadership to ensure that information technology is acquired and information resources are managed in a highly effective and efficient manner. He will also be responsible for all aspects of cyber security across NNSA.

“As Administrator, one of my primary responsibilities is to ensure the security of our facilities and information systems,” said NNSA Administrator Thomas P. D’Agostino. “I know that Bob and his team will be very successful maintaining NNSA’s networks so we can continue to carry out our essential national security programs. I am pleased that Bob has agreed to take on this very challenging assignment, and welcome him to our NNSA leadership team.”
           
Osborn served as the deputy director for Command, Control, Communications and Computer Systems and distribution portfolio manager for the U.S. Transportation Command at Scott Air Force Base, Ill.  He served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 26 years until his retirement in 2001, after which he served in a variety of positions with increasing responsibility within the Department of Defense. 

Osborn has a master’s of science degree in information management from Syracuse University.
